“À Honfleur, certains navires ne disparaissent jamais vraiment…”

Navire emblématique d’Honfleur, L’Union fait la force voit le jour en 1949, sorti des chantiers Métairie. Pendant de longues années, ce voilier traditionnel sillonne la côte de Grâce, dédié à la pêche, avant de sombrer peu à peu dans l’oubli.

En 2010, Francis Levasseur rachète ce qu’il en reste : une coque fatiguée, mais un patrimoine encore vivant.

Commence alors une renaissance. Avec l’aide de nombreux amis et passionnés, plusieurs années de restauration seront nécessaires pour lui redonner vie. Remis à l’eau en 2014, il est classé BIP (Bateau d’Intérêt Patrimonial), symbole de son importance dans la mémoire maritime honfleuraise.

L’aventure se poursuit encore grâce au travail de Manu Guigouresse et Nathalie Devillers-Cauchois, jusqu’à devenir en juin 2020 le célèbre bar à huîtres honfleurais que beaucoup connaissent aujourd’hui.

Avec ses 19,50 mètres, ses 196 m² de voilure, sa coque en bois, son gréement aurique et sa célèbre robe bleu nuit, L’Union fait la force n’a pas fini de faire rêver petits et grands.

“In Honfleur, some ships never really disappear…”

An iconic vessel of Honfleur, L’Union fait la force was launched in 1949 from the Métairie shipyards. For many years, this traditional sailing vessel plied the Côte de Grâce, dedicated to fishing, before gradually falling into oblivion.

In 2010, Francis Levasseur bought what remained of it: a worn-out hull, but a heritage still very much alive.

And so began a rebirth. With the help of many friends and enthusiasts, several years of restoration work were needed to bring it back to life. Launched again in 2014, it was classified as a BIP (Bateau d’Intérêt Patrimonial), a symbol of its importance in Honfleur’s maritime heritage.

The adventure continues thanks to the work of Manu Guigouresse and Nathalie Devillers-Cauchois, culminating in June 2020 with the opening of the famous Honfleur oyster bar that many know today.

Measuring 19.50 metres in length, with 196 m² of sail area, a wooden hull, gaff rigging and its famous midnight blue livery, L’Union fait la force continues to capture the imagination of young and old alike.
